SmartShelf

The SmartShelf is a simple storage and transfer station for autonomous manufacturing: materials can be stored and retrieved both manually by employees and automatically by mobile robots.

This makes SmartShelf the cost-effective entry point into the smart factory – scalable from individual production areas to fully networked production.

SmartShelf

Getting Started the Easy Way
into the Smart Factory

SmartShelf is a modular, flexibly configurable storage and transport system that serves as a central interface between manual processes involving workers and automated production. It consists of shelving modules with integrated sensors that detect, store, and release material containers (e.g., KLTs, pallets, or cassettes) for pickup.

As a result, the SmartShelf—a modular storage and transfer system—seamlessly integrates manual production processes, enabling you to implement automated production.

SmartShelf

The Physical Gateway to the Smart Factory

The SmartShelf is Smart Factory-ready and integrates seamlessly with ERTmiral®, which manages transport orders for mobile robots, connects them. As a physical gateway, the SmartShelf integrates material flow, software, and automation into a single system. The SmartShelf HMI knows at all times which material loads are ready or have been retrieved and reports this directly back to the MES.

Typical MES integrations make it possible to trigger material requests directly from the system: An operator stocks the SmartShelf, ERTmiral® and mobERT® will handle the rest of the transport. The SmartShelf communicates with machines via OPC UA or digital I/Os and reliably reports inventory movements to ME and WM systems.

Integrated safety features ensure maximum safety: Mobile robots are detected by the SmartShelf PLC and sensors and automatically incorporated into the safety logic—ensuring smooth, safe operation for both people and automation.
